Marlene F Bauer: Artist’s Statement

My paintings explore the language of abstraction through colour, movement, and gesture. Working primarily in large-scale acrylic on canvas, I create bold, layered compositions that balance spontaneity with intention.

Each piece is a dialogue — between fluidity and structure, energy and calm—inviting the viewer into an open visual experience.

Colour is central to my work. Vivid hues interact and collide, creating rhythm, depth, and a sense of motion. Inspired by nature’s patterns and the emotional resonance of colour, my paintings aim to capture a sense of freedom—of breath, space, and possibility.

Based in Toronto, I create works that bring vitality and expression into a wide range of environments. Whether placed in corporate, residential, or public spaces, my paintings offer a contemporary visual statement while leaving space for personal interpretation.
